Acupuncture School in Virginia - VA

Acupuncture schools in Virginia can help students to prepare for state licensure as an acupuncturist regardless of their existing training or professional credentials. While Doctors of Medicine, Doctors of Chiropractics and Doctors of Podiatry may practice acupuncture with a comparatively small amount of additional training, students who are not currently pursuing a degree in medicine are able to acquire a Virginia acupuncture license as well.

One of the most stringent requirements of the licensing board in Virginia is the successful completion of the exams prepared by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). The exams cover material that is provided in one of many master's degree programs, including the Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Master of Oriental Medicine, and the Master of Acupuncture among others.

Students can pursue an appropriate master's degree program in one of Virginia's thirty-nine public or seventy-five private colleges and universities. Programs that are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM) are not available in on-campus environments in Virginia, but can be pursued by Virginian students through correspondence courses. While ACAOM courses are not specifically required by the state, they are recognized as leaders in NCCAOM exam preparation.
