Acupuncture Studies in Arizona - AZ

Acupuncture training programs in Arizona are designed to give students hands-on clinical experience that will prepare them to work with patients and perform acupuncture treatments.

In Arizona, certificate programs generally consist of between 200 and 300 hours of training, which is certainly acceptable if you already hold a medical license in the state. As a beginner to this field, however, the State Acupuncture Board of Examiners mandates that all students complete a minimum of 1,850 hours of training before they can be licensed. At least 800 of those hours must be in a clinical environment.

These courses are a standard component of most acupuncture programs:

  • Chinese Terminology and Phonetics
  • Meridian Theory
  • Introduction to TCM Diagnosis
  • Introduction to Point Location
  • Anatomy and Physiology

The next step to becoming licensed as an acupuncturist in Arizona is to get certified. The certifying organization for this profession is the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, also known as NCCAOM. This organization sets a very high standard for the practice of acupuncture and oriental medicine, so by certifying with them, you are making a statement of competency to both the public and the medical community.
