Acupuncture Studies in Ohio - OH

Acupuncture is defined as a method of medical treatment performed by inserting special needles to particular areas of the human body according to the State Medical Board of Ohio. If you are a licensed physician in Ohio you may practice acupuncture without the need for any other licensing. A non-physician acupuncturist, however, must obtain a separate state license by completing a qualified program, and passing a state exam. There are a variety of alternative medicine training programs that offer coursework or degrees in acupuncture that will prepare you for licensure.

Programs for acupuncture training in Ohio include class time, and clinic hours. During your training you will learn the theory of acupuncture as well as gain hands-on experience in a local clinic. There are two common approaches to training. The first is completing a degree in acupuncture. The other is a certification program for licensed physicians that train them in the specialized techniques of acupuncture. Acupuncture studies in Ohio prepare you to complete your training in a manner that will ready you for the final step: board certification. Courses cover both traditional medical knowledge as well as the ancient practice of acupuncture.
