Acupuncture Studies in Tennessee - TN

Acupuncture training in Tennessee consists primarily of preparation for the acupuncture exams issued by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). In addition to passing the NCCAOM exams, up and coming acupuncturists in Tennessee must pay the state $760 in licensing fees, be referred by at least two medical doctors, and submit a detailed history of education and work history pertaining to the profession. While completing Tennessee's state requirements for licensure is demanding in many respects, the lack of specific education requirements is ideal for students who are not pursuing a career as a medical doctor.

Students who wish to complete an ACAOM accredited master's degree program in order to better prepare for the NCCAOM exams can pursue their goals through a number of education programs. In addition to further freedoms in regards to geographic location, correspondence courses allow students to complete coursework at less strenuous paces than is expected on campus. According to the U.S. Department of Education, more than two thirds of American universities offer distance learning programs to out-of-state students.
