Acupuncture Studies in Washington - WA
For those who are not practicing medical doctors or osteopaths, acupuncture training in Washington consists of completing several required education modules, two years of related academic studies, five hundred hours of clinical training and one hundred hours of case observation. Washington requires the completion of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) acupuncture module, the Foundations of Oriental Medicine module, and the Point Location module. Clinical training and case observation must be completed within a single academic year.
While many of the education module mandates are specific to the state of Washington, completion of the NCCAOM exam is a fairly normal requirement. Degree programs accredited by ACAOM are well known for their successful NCCAOM exam preparation, and are favored among students and potential employers alike.
Distance education is gaining support among many American colleges. The United States Department of Education recently reported that some two-thirds of the nation's universities offer coursework through correspondence. These programs allow students to study at their own pace, and don't require the relocation demanded by regular on-campus studies.
