The Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) is responsible for accrediting dental education programs and education institutions. To become a dental hygienist in this state, one must obtain at least an associate’s degree but some opt to obtain a bachelor’s degree to make them more marketable. There is one Alaska Dental Hygienist School available, but this program is offered at two campuses within the school. Both programs offer an associate's degree. Associate’s degrees typically take two years to complete. www.adha.org/careerinfo/entry/ak.htm
