There are a variety of Arizona nursing informatics programs, including a variety of online options. Registered nurses in Arizona wishing to expand their careers into this more technical field may attend any one of nine in-state schools recognized by the ANCC for their nursing informatics programs.
The course work and areas of study at a nursing informatics program should center on the practice domains covered in the ANCC exam. The exam is predominantly made up of questions on System Life Cycles, Information Technology (IT), and Information Management. Sixty-five percent of the exam is composed of these three subjects. The other 35% of the exam covers Human Factors, Professional Issues, Theory, and Management. However, some schools may not break down the course work exactly as it appears on the exam. The program may begin with introductory courses in IT and informatics, and then in subsequent course work specific applications to nursing and health care data management will be covered.
Through campus based and online programs, aspiring Nurses in Health Informatics in Phoenix, Tucson, Mesa and Glendale, Arizona may be able to prepare themselves for the possibility of employment in some of the largest hospitals and healthcare facilities in the state including Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center, Saint Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center, Maricopa Medical Center, and Tucson Medical Center.
