How to Become a Physical Therapist Assistant in Arkansas – AR

All careers Physical Therapy Assistant careers in Arkansas begin with a formal training program and successful completion of the national exam.  After successful completion of the National Physical Therapy Examination for physical therapy assistants, one must continue with the application process with the Arkansas State Board of Physical Therapy (ASPTB).  In addition, successful completion of a jurisprudence examination is required in order to receive a license to practice as a physical therapy assistant in the state of Arkansas.  The following are steps regarding this application and examination process. 


  1. The application and fee is sent to the Arkansas State Board of Physical Therapy (ASPTB).
  2. Send official transcripts, along with 3 letters of recommendation to the ASPTB.
  3. One must take the jurisprudence examination.  This may be done by first registering with the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT).  ASPTB will inform you when you are approved to take the exam.
  4. After a passing score is received by the ASPTB, then a license is issued at this point.

One is ready to pursue a professional career as a physical therapy assistant in the state of Arkansas, once the above steps have been completed.
