Biomedical Equipment Technician Training in Ohio – OH

The opportunity for BMET certification in Ohio is available to individuals whose backgrounds align with one of the following three requirements mandated to sit for the Biomedical Equipment Technicians examination:

  1. Completion of an Associate of Applied Science degree in biomedical equipment technician training and two years of full-time BMET employment;
  2. Completion of an Associate of Applied Science degree in electronics technology and three years of full-time BMET employment; or
  3. Completion of four years of full-time BMET employment.

The International Certification Commission validates individuals who earn certification for Clinical Engineering and Biomedical Technology (ICC) as experts in the field whose level of competency qualifies them to work within health care settings.  The ICC certifies biomedical equipment technicians as well as radiology and laboratory equipment specialists in Ohio.

The certification examination assesses individuals’ understanding of anatomy, public safety and electronics, to name only a few of the areas tested.  BMET certification is valid for three years.  After this period of time has elapsed, individuals must then become re-certified.  To do so, they must have earned 15 hours of ongoing education credit, which may be acquired through career-oriented seminars, conferences and symposia.
