In 2006, the state with the highest concentration of Occupational Therapists was California. According to the US Census Bureau, the Golden State boasts 10,000 Occupational Therapists (OTs) and Occupational Therapist Assistants (OTAs) who serve the 36 million residents of the state (US Census Bureau). Between 2000 and 2010, projected growth in availability of Occupational Therapist jobs in California is 37.5%, faster than most other jobs in the state, notes the Occupational Therapy Association of California (OTAC).
