California RN Schools
Nursing salaries for employment in California are roughly on par with those of the national average. The San Francisco Bay area has traditionally been the region with the highest salaries. This coordinates both with the medical and technological industries in the area, as well as the higher cost of living.
Areas hardest hit by the latest economic recession such as California’s Central Valley including Bakersfield, Fresno and Sacramento and Southern California’s Inland Empire (Riverside) are home to Registered Nursing’s lower annual salaries. These salaries, however, are higher than the average for the populations in these areas.
The number of Nurses in the state of California is expected to grow over the next decade, as the health care industry grows. As America’s most populous state, nursing is expected to grow significantly as the population grows. California RN schools have expanded facilities and nursing education departments to meet this projected increase in enrollment.
Continuing Education Requirements for California Nursing
Registered Nurses in California must complete thirty hours of continuing education (CE) every two years to remain in good standing with the state Board of Registered Nursing. Courses include nursing or health care administration, management, education or research. Additional areas of nursing relating to patient or client care may also be completed as long as they are accepted by the state BRN.
Through campus or online programs, aspiring Registered Nurses in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose and San Francisco, California may be able to prepare themselves for the possibility of employment in some of the largest hospitals and healthcare facilities in the state including the Paton State Hospital, L.A. County & USC Medical Center, Napa State Hospital and Sonoma Developmental Center.
