For those wanting to pursue a career in dental assisting, there is Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA)-approved programs in dental assisting. These programs take about a year to complete and the student will receive a certificate or a diploma upon completion of the program. There are also two-year programs that offer associate’s degrees. Dental assistants can also learn the trade through on-the-job training. All information can be obtained through the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. There are a number of dental assistant schools in Connecticut. Most of the programs last between nine and twelve months.
