Connecticut Massage Therapy Schools - CT

There are 19 Connecticut massage therapy schools that have been granted approval by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. In addition to online and distance learning options, these include technical institutes as well as specific Connecticut massage therapy schools and others focusing on alternative health careers. The following coursework is necessary to be eligible to take the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, which is required for certification in Connecticut, an applicant must have at least 500 hours of education in the field, including:
Anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology: 125 hours
Massage and bodywork assessment, theory and application: 200 hours
Pathology: 40 hours
Business and ethics: 10 hours, with at least six specifically in ethics
Additional related areas: 125 hours
Study can take between two to six terms, depending on the types of massage studied and whether the student attends full or part time.
Through campus based and online programs, aspiring Massage Therapists in Bridgeport, Hartford, New Haven and Stamford, Connecticut may be able to prepare themselves for the possibility of employment in some of the largest hospitals and healthcare facilities in the state including Masonicare Health Center, Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, New Haven Hospital, and St. Vincent's Medical Center.
