Military Dental Hygienist Careers

Military.net reports that the demand for qualified dental hygienists has been rising along with the rest of the overall population in America. Oral health is a key component of overall health, as the population becomes older, there are more cases of gum disease, fillings that fall out, and other issues that must be addressed.

However, attending a technical school or college in hopes of becoming a dental hygienist can be expensive. This is why joining the military can be an excellent option for aspiring dental hygienists. For example, those who enlist with the U.S. Army can receive $14,400 per year, and will be provided with free housing, medical benefits, food and clothing stipends, travel discounts, and military shopping opportunities. Enlistees can earn $28,000 per year within four years. With all of the above benefits, this money can easily be directed toward dental hygienist schooling.

As a civilian dental hygienist, your military-related schools will provide you with the chance to further your career. Dental hygienists make about $40,000 per year in the non-military arena.
