Dental Hygienist School in Maryland – MD

Dental hygienists are required to complete a dental hygiene program. Dental hygiene programs typically last around two years and will land you an associate’s degree upon completion. The educational portion of the program will consist of anatomy, physiology, microbiology, chemistry, pathology, nutrition, the study of tissue structure, gum disease, and dental materials. In addition, students will complete clinical and laboratory instruction that includes time for hands-on training. There are several dental hygienist schools in Maryland.
Maryland Dental Assistant Continuing Education Requirements
Maryland issues a two-year license to dental hygienists. Every two years licensed dental hygienists in Maryland must complete 30 hours of continuing education, which includes two hours and of infection control training. CPR certification must also be kept current at all times. Renewal applications and $135 renewal fee must be sent to the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners prior to July 1st of the renewal year.Through campus based and online programs, aspiring Dental Hygienists in Baltimore, Columbia, Silver Spring and Ellicot City, Maryland may be able to prepare themselves for the possibility of employment in some of the largest hospitals and healthcare facilities in the state including the Franklin Square Hospital Center, Holy Cross Hospital, John Hopkins Medicine and Prince George’s Hospital Center.
