One option for dental hygienists is a two-year program at a community college that includes microbiology, oral biology, ethics, clinical practice, oral health and radiology, oral pathology, controlling pain and anxiety, pharmacology, materials and techniques, dental health, and clinical practice. With this degree in hand, a person may continue on to get a bachelor of science in dental hygiene, which provides further education in areas like public health and research methodology. Nevada Dental Hygienist Continuing education and License Renewal

Dental hygienists in Nevada must renew their licenses in even years by June 30. The renewal form must be signed by a notary public. In the year preceding this renewal date, a dental hygienist must complete 15 hours of approved continuing education classes. CPR certification must also be current. Six of these hours may be completed at home, and three may involve attending an association’s business sessions. Education courses offered at association meetings may also be counted, but CPR classes may not be included.
