Most dental hygiene programs take two years to complete. There are several dental hygienist schools in Utah.

Utah Dental Hygienist Continuing Education Requirements

Utah dental hygienists are issued a biennial license to practice in their field. It expires on May 31st of even-numbered years. All dental hygienist licenses expire at the same time. They are not based on the date of initial licensure. Renewal information will be mailed to the current address of the license holder approximately two months before the license expires. In addition, 30 hours of continuing education must be completed during each two-year renewal cycle.

Dental hygienists may also choose to obtain a license with local anesthesia permit. Additional education is required. This license also expires on the 31st of May of even-numbered years.

Through campus based and online programs, aspiring Dental Hygienists in Salt Lake City, West Valley, Provo and West Jordon, Utah may be able to prepare themselves for the possibility of employment in some of the largest hospitals and healthcare facilities in the state including the Intermountain Medical Center, Saint Mark's Hospital, University of Utah Health Care and Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.
