In Connecticut, dental schools are dedicated to providing advanced and innovative curriculums that students will parlay into successful careers in dentistry. Because dentists are essentially doctors of the mouth/oral cavity, it is important that they are formally trained and educated.

Once you have chosen a dental school in Connecticut, you will need to take the Dental Admissions Test, also referred to as the DAT. This is a competency test that assesses both the knowledge and preparedness of each student before entry into a dental school. In order to be eligible to take the DAT test and enroll in a dental school, you will need to have at least an associate-level college education. The majority of students in Connecticut, however, do not pursue the DAT test until they have completed their bachelor’s degree.

When you start a degree program at one of the dental schools in Connecticut, you will be taking course like:

  • CPR and First Aid
  • Oral Anatomy and Pathology
  • Pharmacology in Dentistry
  • Dental Surgeries
  • Dental Radiography

Dental degree programs in Connecticut terminate with either the Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree or the Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. Dental schools often vary in the degrees they award, but the DMD and DDS degrees are actually equivalent.

Through campus-based dental program in Connecticut, would-be dentists in Bridgeport, Hartford, New Haven, and Stamford, Connecticut can look forward to exciting dentistry careers and associations with some of the largest medical facilities in the state, including Masonicare Health Center, Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, New Haven Hospital, and St. Vincent’s Medical Center.
