Education Requirements for Physical Therapy Assistants in Washington, DC

As you determine where your school is you want to attend, you must be certain that the program will pass the requirements of the governing body. The Program must be accredited by the Secretary of the Department of Education or by the Council of Post Secondary Education.  The DC areas offers choices for the PTA student as you seek which institution you choose to attend; you may also have online opportunities for a part of your study.

The timeframe to compete the necessary coursework will largely depend on how you pursue it. At the least, you are looking at a minimum of two years. It will be difficult, however, to finish in that short of time.

When you have graduated from one of the Washington, DC physical therapy assistant schools, you should receive an Associate’s Degree appropriate for Physical Therapy. This will include courses focused on science, math, and communication.

Continuing Education

Each PTA is mandated to achieve 30 hours of CE every two years in order to obtain a renewal. It is mandatory that you maintain all documentation of continuing education in case there is an audit. When you have completed your CE units, you will need to have the signature or stamp of the supervisory organization that you obtained the hours from.
Failure to complete your CE credits could cause your license to be suspended.
