Two routes exist in the District of Columbia for pursuing education towards a career as a radiology technologist. The first is through a certificate program, which is a program offered through a hospital. The student will be taught by staff members from the hospital and perform both classroom style learning and clinical learning in one location. This type of program takes 1-2 years to complete and is offered at two hospitals in the District of Columbia.
The second option is an associate’s degree program. This two-year option is offered through technical academies, community colleges, and online universities. Online universities provide a unique advantage in that they can be completed on one’s own schedule and allow them the convenience of not having to commute.Through campus or online programs, aspiring Radiology Technicians in Washington, D.C. / District of Columbia may be able to prepare themselves for the possibility of employment in some of the largest hospitals and healthcare facilities in the district, including the Washington Hospital Center, George Washington University Medical Center and Providence Hospital.
