Exercise science is defined by the National Library of Medicine as “The scientific study of human movement performed to maintain or improve physical fitness.” The NLM includes athletic trainers, exercise psychologists, fitness trainers, and those in the cardiac rehabilitation field as being a part of the exercise science field. This isn’t an exhaustive list, however, as there are a number of career fields beyond this scope and even within it. Pursuing an exercise science degree in Idaho allows you to work toward a career in those areas.

Frequently, exercise science degrees are founded on a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Kinesiology or Science. Within these broad degrees, coursework is offered that allows students to concentrate on a specific area of expertise. Common concentrations include physical therapy and physical education.

While working toward any type of Idaho exercise science degree, you will develop the skills necessary to work within your career field. Through coursework and hands-on training, you’ll discover ways to execute training programs based on individuals’ needs. In the process, you’ll develop strong leadership skills that will prove essential in your career field.

After graduation and certification in the state of Idaho, many have discovered careers within the state’s many exceptional medical facilities. Included among these are the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, and St. Luke's Boise Medical Center.
