Before deciding on an education path, it is helpful to know what amount of training is required for a desired career. One benefit to pursuing an exercise science degree in Illinois and throughout the United States is the number of educational paths to choose from and the methods available to achieve a degree.
Within Illinois are several excellent colleges and universities where you can pursue an exercise science degree. Some of these are located in Bedford Park, Burr Ridge, Chicago, Merrionette Park, North Aurora, and Skokie, among others. In addition, there are institutes dedicated solely to the certification of personal trainers and other exercise science professionals.
An associate’s degree in exercise science is an excellent starting point to a personal trainer or instructor career path. Beyond that, Illinois programs include Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science degrees that focus on exercise science. Within the exercise science concentration are a number of more focused courses on specific areas. Many students also earn a minor in a corresponding exercise science field to give themselves additional career opportunities.
Today, there are more opportunities for education than ever. No longer does going back to school mean putting your life on hold. In additional to traditional classes, programs exist to help achieve an exercise science degree through evening classes or online.
