A degree in exercise science can lead to many different career opportunities in Massachusetts. Students who elect to pursue an exercise science degree in Massachusetts have a choice of schools that are in a traditional college or university setting, or online. Programs in exercise science typically take about four years to complete and result in a bachelor degree, although some professions may require a master degree even at the entry level.

Exercise science degrees in Massachusetts include majors such as Kinesiology, Sport and Fitness Administration and Management. Regardless of your major in exercise science, courses you will likely encounter include therapeutic modalities, human anatomy and physiology, evaluation of athletic injuries, therapeutic exercise, exercise physiology, administration, kinesiology, biomechanics, psychology, nutrition and health.

In addition, most exercise science programs and careers in exercise science will require students to obtain current certification in First Aid and CPR by the American Heart Association and/or the American Red Cross. While most of these careers can be entered with the proper education alone, some, such as Athletic Trainer, require additional certification. Athletic trainers who work in Massachusetts must, under state law, pass the NATABOC (National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification) national certification exam.
