Exercise Science Salary in Massachusetts - MA

The College of Nurses of Massachusetts is a self-regulating body that provides registration for long term care nurses. In Massachusetts, the law mandates that all nursing professionals must be registered with the CNO before they can practice in Massachusetts. This organization recognizes that both registered nurses and registered practical nurses can practice in long term care settings. However, before the registration process can be completed, students must partake in an accredited program of long term care training in Massachusetts.

Ideally, students will train in some type of long term care facility in Massachusetts, which could be either a nursing home or an acute care hospital. Here, students tend to elderly patients and those requiring continuous care and monitoring. Students are continuously observed for:

  • Appropriate bedside manner
  • Ability to make quick decisions
  • Ability to evaluate a patient’s health condition
  • Interaction with nursing and physician staff
  • Overall care of the patient

Eventually, not only does the clinical training practicum prepare students for the new career they are about to embark upon, it also prepares them for either the Canadian Registered Nurse Examination (CRNE) or the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination (CPNRE), depending on which area of long term care is chosen. A fee of $262.16 is collected for the CPNRE exam, and a $464.69 fee is collected for the CRNE exam.
