Hawaii is, unsurprisingly, one of the healthiest states in the nation. Statemaster.com reports that Hawaii has the lowest death rates for teens, infants, and children. The state also boasts the lowest childhood obesity rates and ranks among the highest in the nation for vegetable and fruit consumption and health index. This is due, in large part, to excellent health care.

According to statehealthfacts.org, Hawaii has 21 more nurse practitioners per 100,000 people than the rest of the US. Given these statistics, it’s clear that graduating from a family nurse practitioner program in Hawaii opens up doors to a successful career path.

To begin a career as one of Hawaii’s family nurse practitioners, individuals must complete a Masters in Science of Nursing degree, selecting family practice as their specialty within the nurse practitioner field. The program spans two-to-four years and includes coursework that is later directly applied to the clinical practicum. Graduates have reported the coursework required to obtain an MSN are rigorous and require significant concentration, but also rewarding and continually captivating.

In addition to traditional avenues for pursuing an MSN, the Board of Nursing in Hawaii also accepts graduates from accredited online MSN programs. A list of approved online and traditional nursing schools can be found on Hawaii’s Board of Nursing website.
