Family Nurse Practitioner Program in New Jersey - NJ
Family nurse practitioner programs in New Jersey train registered nurses to work in collaboration with physicians as health care providers, treating patients all along their life span. Schools exist online and within New Jersey that provide such training. Registered nurses from cities like Jersey City, Newark, Elizabeth, Paterson, Woodbridge and Edison may enroll in graduate studies through either online or campus based family nurse practitioner programs. While most FNP programs are open to RNs who already hold bachelor’s degrees, some will admit RNs without a degree in accelerated programs designed to help them make the transition to a master’s degree. FNP graduate programs usually require an undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 in order to gain admission.
New Jersey family nurse practitioner programs will offer registered nurses courses on nursing theory and nursing research, as well as courses tailored to different patient groups they might encounter in their practices (such as children, adolescents, adults and the elderly).
Classes are combined with field placements in medical centers across New Jersey like Hackensack University Medical Center, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, Atlanticare Regional Medical Center and Bergen Regional Medical Center. Clinical experiences may also occur in private physicians’ practices and outpatient clinics.
