Florida Certified Nurse Assistant Training Programs
Florida by far is one of the most flexible states when it comes to obtaining a CNA certification. With over 655 training programs and an opportunity for obtaining training through a variety of online programs and four different routes to becoming a CNA, Florida residents have a plethora of choices.
Florida residents can become CNAs by challenging the Florida CNA exam, going through a program at a nursing home, obtaining an associate's degree or certificate from a community college, or participating in an accredited program through a private organization. A typical CNA program in Florida combines hands-on, clinical experience with classes in gerontology, pharmacology, medical-surgical nursing, and more.
CNA students in traditional programs and career programs have similar course loads, with exception to community college students. Students who attend universities or community colleges may be required to take additional classes in the liberal arts, which may be beneficial if they plan to obtain more education in the future.
If a student chooses to challenge the CNA exam, they have to be at least 18 years of age, have a high school education, and be of good moral character. The State of Florida, however, strongly recommends that applicants go through an accredited CNA training program before they apply for licensure.
Through either online or campus based programs, aspiring C.N.A.s in Jacksonville, Miami, Tampa, St. Petersburg and Orlando, Florida may be able to prepare themselves for the possibility of employment in some of the largest hospitals and healthcare facilities in the state including the Baptist Medical Center, Memorial Regional Hospital, Mount Sinai Medical Center, University Hospital and Medical Center and Broward General Medical Center.
