There are a variety of dental hygienist schools in Florida, mainly consisting of community colleges. Typically a 2-3 year associate’s degree is required to practice as a dental hygienist in this state.

Dental hygienists are required to complete 24 hours of continuing education. Of the 24 hours, two hours must be in the prevention of medical errors and another two must be in domestic violence.
