Continuing Educational Requirements for Massage Therapists in the State of Florida
In order to apply for renewal of certification for massage therapist licensure in the state of Florida, the following requirements must be met.
- One hour of continuing education for each month that has passed since the issuance of your license. Continuing education is available either online or through Florida massage therapy schools. There is a maximum of 24 hours in the renewal period.
- At least 12 of those hours must come from massage therapy techniques.
- A mandatory 2 hours of professional ethics is required.
- In addition, 2 hours of prevention of medical errors must be covered.
- Also, 2 hours of Florida laws and rules is required.
- Complete a course in HIV/AIDS.
- Continuing education must come from a Board of Massage Therapy approved provider. A listing of approved providers may be found at the Florida Department of Health website.
