Educational Expectations of Nuclear Medicine Technologist Schools in Florida
To obtain a license in Florida you will need to complete a Radiologic Technology Program. Various institutions administer these programs. Many hospitals offer an in-house program. You may also attend a community college or a university if they offer an approved curriculum. The program is a two-year series of courses. You may add this on to a corresponding degree program if you desire.
During the course of your career, you will be handling both patients and equipment. The program prepares you for both. You will take courses designed to increase your knowledge in math and science. You will also be trained to use the specialized machinery involved in radiography.
Along with medical and technical coursework, you will also take courses in communication, safety procedures and laws covering both materials and general medical issues.
Requirements for Continued Education (CE) and License Renewal
When the time comes for your license renewal, the Florida Department of Health (FDH) will mail a renewal form and instructions to you. The forms are usually mailed to the address you supplied on your application. In order to renew, you will need to complete twelve hours of approved CE credits from a provider who has received approval by the FDH .
