Georgia is a state full of opportunities for a licensed massage therapist.  Georgia Massage Therapy schools help aspiring practitioners get the training needed to take advantage of these opportunities.  Nationally, employment growth for massage therapists is expected to grow 20% by 2016, according the Bureau of Labor Statistics.  This is faster than average for all occupations nationwide.  Also, according to the Georgia Workforce Commission, over the next decade two out of three new jobs in the healthcare field will be in one of the 20 technical and support occupations.  Both Georgia massage therapy schools and online schools are prepared to meet the demand of many more would-be massage therapists.  Massage therapy is among these 20 occupations.  A third positive fact is that the travelers accommodation industry is the 3rd highest industry to employ massage therapists.  Interestingly, the Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport is among the country's highest traveled airports; therefore, the state of Georgia is a superb growing market for massage therapists. Massage therapists in this type of tourism industry will expect more earnings, as tipping is common.  Many times the massage therapist works in several locations in the travelers accommodation industry.

Of these 24 hours, 12 hours must consist of hands-on instruction under supervision.  The Board has the right to randomly audit any licensed massage therapist for proper documentation of continuing education (CE) hours.  The following is a listing of proper documentation of CE hours.

  • If you completed a multimedia course (online course), then proof of a post course examination is required.
  •  A correspondence course would require a certificate of completion with a description of the course details, along with proper signatures.
