Georgia Medical Billing and Coding Schools - GA

There are several ways to become a medical biller/coder in Georgia. All require a high school diploma and at least some proficiency with computers as prerequisites but, beyond that, nearly anyone with any background may be a good fit for this career.
There are a number of online certificate programs as well as programs offered through campus based medical billing schools in Georgia that students can typically complete in as little as three months. Upon completion of the certification program, the graduate will be prepared for an entry level position in this field.
The other option is to study toward an advanced degree at one of the many Georgia medical coding schools; or community or technical colleges. The majority of these programs are either one or two year, depending how much specialization is included in the degree program.
These programs offered through medical billing schools in Georgia prepare students for jobs in medical billing/coding by first covering typical medical courses such as anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. They follow with courses in computers, insurance regulations, and coding, and some wrap up the program with a quarter (or several weeks) of an internship in a physician's office or hospital.
Like most advanced degrees, they may take extra time and money to complete but they will also help one obtain a higher salary faster than those with certificates only.
The final option for those living in Georgia but who can't find a local program that works for them (a working mother, for example, looking for a career change), there are an increasing list of on-line programs available. Although there are currently no Master of Arts programs in this field, a number of schools do offer Associates degrees in medical billing and coding.
