The job description of a medical office manager in Georgia will vary depending on the size of the office and the number of employees that work there. If it is a large medical facility with hundreds of employees, there will most likely be assistants working directly underneath the office manager and the manager will delegate responsibilities and oversee the larger picture. If there are only a few employees, of if the practice consists of a small group of physicians, the medical office manager will take on more of the day-to-day operations and participate in all areas of medical office management.
Many offices will contract out their medical billing, etc. and that will lesson the load and the amount of activity taking place in the office that is the manager’s responsibility. If there are multiple physicians in the office the one medical office manager may be employed by all of them, or there may be different office managers for each medical unit or doctor within the clinic.
Hospitals are large businesses that employ a multitude of office managers to oversee and handle the daily workings of a business. Their responsibilities also involve overseeing the employees and taking responsibility for the office as a whole. Many hospitals in Georgia contact out their payroll to independent business management companies but it is still more cost effective to have an in-house office manager handle all of these responsibilities.
