Hawaii Certified Nurse Assistant Training Programs

Although the coursework for each training program may vary, most online and campus based CNA training programs in Hawaii generally focus on body functions, nutrition, anatomy and physiology, infection prevention and control, patient care and rights, and communication.

The 30 hours of classroom based education must provide instruction on:

    • Caring for dying patients

Through either online or campus based programs, aspiring C.N.A.s in Honolulu, Kialua and Hilo, Hawaii may be able to prepare themselves for the possibility of employment in some of the largest hospitals and healthcare facilities in the state including the Shriner's Hospital, Kapi'olani Health and Kaiser Permanente.

Career advancement opportunities are available with continuing education and additional training. Most CNAs that are interested in broadening their career eventually branch out into other health care professions. Some CNAs go on to become licensed practical nurses, registered nurses and medical assistants.
