Many schools in Hawaii offer a gerontology certificate in conjunction with a degree.  It is always helpful to your career to obtain as much education as you can. However, obtaining a four-year bachelors degree in conjunction with a gerontology certification in Hawaii is comparable to, if not preferred over a master’s degree without the certification in gerontology, and can take considerably less time.  The field of gerontology encompasses so many areas so the path to achieving certification in Hawaii in quite varied.  This leaves room for you to construct the plan of education and training that is suitable to you specifically.  There is a lot of room for specialization within this profession and finding your niche and becoming an expert in that realm of gerontology is a key to sure success in this career.


The elderly population of the United States is going to increase drastically in numbers over the next ten years and the field of gerontology will be increasingly more important to help all of these ageing people transition as their medical, emotional, and social needs change.  There is a certain amount of job security within the healthcare field and more specifically within this field of gerontology and pursuing a gerontology career in Hawaii will make for a long and rewarding professional experience.
