In Hawaii, careers in healthcare management are the structural glue that keeps a healthcare facility running smoothly, efficiently, and qualitatively. Healthcare administrators and healthcare managers often go unnoticed by patients, but it is these individuals that ensure patient privacy laws are followed, that insurance companies are billed properly, that staff is working competently and collaboratively, and that accountability measures are implemented and adhered to.

It is likely that healthcare administration jobs in Hawaii will be growing in the next few years. In fact, the Bureau of Labor statistics projects that the need for healthcare administration professionals will grow by at least 16% between now and 2018. Some of the following reasons are the major causes for this increase:

  • Average median age of the population increasing
  • Medicare and Medicaid programs demanding more accountability and documentation from healthcare providers
  • Government regulations demanding adherence to security regulations within medical records
  • Promoting preventative care to abate emergency care

In Hawaii, careers in healthcare management take place in many different environments, including family physician offices, dental clinics, large and small hospitals, women’s clinics, medical laboratories, surgery centers, radiologic imaging centers, podiatrists’ offices, outpatient facilities, and many more. Healthcare administrators in Hawaii are needed in every type of medical facility that exists.
