The first thing you will want to do to start a career in this growing, dynamic field is to choose a healthcare administration program in Hawaii. There are several schools to choose from, but the bottom line is to choose one that has a degree program matched with your future career ambitions.
In Hawaii, you will need at least a 4-year bachelor degree in healthcare administration to seek employment in this field. However, because there are many different angles to this particular profession, master degrees are also available. In general, though, students in Hawaii begin their careers in healthcare management with a bachelor degree.
This field is particularly interesting because you can pursue it in two different ways: by overseeing assisted-living and nursing home facilities or by overseeing hospitals and clinics. Managing the administrative functions of an assisted-living or nursing home also requires you to be registered as a nurse. Any other type of medical facility does not require this.
Working toward your healthcare management degree in Hawaii, you will take several different courses pertinent to ensuring your future success, including:
- Accounting Concepts for Healthcare Professionals
- Information Systems
- Healthcare Financing
- Human Resources Management
After graduating from either an online or campus-based program, future healthcare administrators in Honolulu, Kailua, and Hilo, Hawaii will be ready for lucrative careers in some of the state’s most recognized healthcare facilities, including Kuakini Medical Center, The Queen’s Medical Center, and Hilo Medical Center.
