Health Education in Texas

A health education professional needs to be able to perform the functions of their field before they can possibly educate anyone else on how to perform those functions. Therefore the first step in becoming a health education professional is to become educated in the field of their choice. This education should eventually lead to a certification or licensure in the field after completing a master’s program in health education. To find out the licensing or certification education requirements for the field, interested parties should contact the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation to learn the specific requirements they must meet. The requirements should be met and the license or certification applied for through this department.

This can be done by submitting a license or certification application to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Included with this application should be any applicable fees, letters of reference or recommendation, transcripts and fingerprint card for a background check to be completed. Once the application is approved and the individual is certified or licensed, they may meet the requirements to teach the information they are licensed or certified for. Sometimes there are no further steps to take, but quite often there are educational requirements to be met in order to be able to instruct in the field.

contact the Texas Education Agency and request information on what steps to complete in order to be able to pursue health educator careers in Texas.
