Health Informatics Degree in Florida - FL
Several medical informatics programs in Florida boast accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM), the most well known accreditation organization in the industry. While CAHIIM accreditation isn't a national or state requirement and is rarely specifically indicated by potential employers, it is certainly the most accepted educational standard in health informatics. In 2008, just forty-eight baccalaureate and five master's degree programs nationwide were CAHIIM accredited, making Florida a state with a relatively high concentration of accredited programs.
Students in Florida have an excellent selection in terms of health informatics education. Should a student choose to pursue a more generic information technology or health information degree instead of a CAHIIM accredited program, the state's nearly two hundred colleges offer an overwhelming selection of appropriate degree programs.
Health informatics students may also choose from a wide selection of various CAHIIM accredited degrees that can be completed through distance education programs. Distance learning is becoming more popular every year, due to the flexibility and selection it offers students from any state. According to the United States Department of Education, distance learning options are offered by more than two-thirds of the country's colleges.
