Health Informatics Job and Salary Expectations in New Hampshire - NH

Due to the increasing prevalence of electronic medical records, not just in New Hampshire but all across our nation, the health informatics arena is booming. Job growth in this field is expected to remain high through the next decade. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) of the U.S. Department of Labor, in May 2009 there were 1120 jobs in medical and health services management, which includes health informatics jobs, in New Hampshire. The variety of careers available in the healthcare information administration (HIA) and/or healthcare information management (HIM) fields means that this discipline is wide open to recent graduates in the field.

The BLS reports the average health information administrator salary to be $91,290 in New Hampshire. This salary reflects years of education, professional certification, and experience. Certain areas of the state may pay higher (or lower) wages than other areas. Per the BLS, the Lawrence-Methuen-Salem MA/NH area is the third-highest paying metropolitan area in the country for health services managers to work. This area reportedly pays health information administrators and other health services managers an annual salary of $121,390.  Of course, not every area of the state pays quite as well, as these annual salary figures from the BLS represent:

  • Haverhill-North Andover-Amesbury, MA-NH:  $82,650
  • Lowell-Billerica-Chelmsford, MA-NH:  $91,750
  • Manchester:  $96,050
