Are you interested in earning a health informatics degree in Tennessee? If so, students should actually search for academic degrees in health information administration (HIA) or health information management (HIM) because this is the degree most closely associated with health informatics professionals. The most highly regarded HIA and HIM degree programs in the state are ones that are accredited by the Commission of Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).

For students in Tennessee that want to enroll in an undergraduate degree, there is the option of a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management. This degree program can be pursued online or through campus-based schools and requires approximately sixty-four credits to graduate. There are also graduate programs that award a Master of Health Informatics and Health Information Management degree. Unlike the undergraduate program, this program is only available through online education and requires around seventy-eight credits to reach completion. There are also Post-Baccalaureate Certificates in Health Informatics and Health Information Management. These programs are also most likely to be found online. Unlike the degree programs, this certificate track does not qualify students to become registered health information administrators (RHIAs).
