Find the right school for you
Vermont is not just one of the smallest states in New England, but one of the smallest in the country. As a result, students looking for medical and health informatics degrees in Vermont will be faced with limited options. However the many schools offering online health information management programs in informatics provide an excellent alternative to conventional campus based programs.
Students that choose to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Health Informatics should expect to complete 120 credits over the span of four years. These degrees involve curriculum that is based on adult general education core classes and professional courses within the major. Some examples of these professional courses include: Software Systems Analysis & Design, Privacy & Protection: Law & Regulation in Healthcare, Project Management & Team Leadership, and Relational Database.
For Vermont students that want to earn a professional certificate in health informatics, there are two different programs that offer specialty concentrations. These certificate programs award graduates with a Health Informatics: Data Coding and Classification Professional Certificate or a Health Informatics: Data Systems and Technology Professional Certificate. Each of these certificates requires the completion twenty-one credits. The New England Association of Schools and Colleges accredit these programs.
