Students who are interested in Health Information Technology should first earn a Health Information Technology degree. Outside of that, however, most professionals in the field recommend RHIT certification in Arkansas if one wants to stand out from other job applicants. RHIT certification requires a minimum of an associate degree, with courses such as medical terminology, medical law, medical insurance billing, computer information systems, and pathology. After graduation, to become an RHIT, one must take an examination given by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
