Health Information Technology Certification in Arkansas - AR

Students who are interested in Health Information Technology should first earn a Health Information Technology degree. Outside of that, however, most professionals in the field recommend RHIT certification in Arkansas if one wants to stand out from other job applicants. RHIT certification requires a minimum of an associate degree, with courses such as medical terminology, medical law, medical insurance billing, computer information systems, and pathology. After graduation, to become an RHIT, one must take an examination given by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). Upon passing this examination, one is automatically conferred RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) status.

Positions for RHIT certified professionals are available within healthcare facilities, physician’s offices, outpatient clinics and other medical settings. When looking at jobs available in Arkansas in the arena of health information technology, it is obvious that there are a greater number of positions available for individuals possessing RHIT certification than for those who lack such certification.
