Herbalist School in Texas - TX

Texas is a huge state with 25 million residents, many of who are interested in alternative and natural approaches to wellness, including herbalism. With so many people and such quickly growing opportunities for herbal medicine, there are also many herbalist schools in Texas, located in cities ranging from Houston to Dallas to San Antonio to Austin.  These schools offer education in the basic tenets of herbalism, as well as in core subjects like botany, physiology, and pharmacology. Many schools also offer specialization in traditions like Chinese medicine or Ayurvedic medicine, or in specific techniques or treatments. There are options to fit any interest.

Since Texas is such a large state, though, you may have trouble finding a program located near you. If that’s the case, you can look into online programs in herbal medicine, which offer courses in core subjects like botany and human sciences that you can supplement with hands-on clinical training in your area. You can also look into obtaining an apprenticeship or internship with an experienced herbalist near you. There are a number of resources available to help you do this: the American Herbalists Guild is happy to help herbalists find education and training, and the Herb Association of Texas helps trained and aspiring herbalists find each other and learn about herbs in the specific context of Texas.
