The Louisiana definition of the practice of chiropractic allows chiropractors that are licensed in the state to diagnose conditions related to the functionality and basic integrity of the spine, and to treat these conditions through physical or mechanical manipulation and adjustment of the spine and other skeletal components. Chiropractors in Louisiana are also permitted to use therapeutic exercise, mechanical devices, sound massage, mobilization, and other physical rehabilitation measures in an effort to correct interference with normal nerve transmission. A chiropractor in Louisiana may also go as far as to make dietary and personal hygiene recommendations to patients. A chiropractor is permitted to order diagnostic tests necessary for diagnosing conditions regarding the functional integrity of the spine.

  1. Complete 60 credit hours at a liberal arts college.
  2. Complete a course of study at a chiropractic college and receive your diploma.
  3. Pass the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE) examination, Parts I, II, III, IV, and XIII (Physiotherapy).
  4. Have college transcripts and NBCE scores mailed to the Louisiana Board of Chiropractic Examiners.
