Pediatric Nursing Jobs in Florida - FL

Are you interested in working in the health care and medical industry? Do you want a career devoted to promoting the health of infants, children, and young adults? If this sounds like an ideal job description, then perhaps you should consider becoming a pediatric nurse in Florida. Currently, all pediatric nurses and other advanced nurse practitioners must complete either a master degree or post-master certificate in pediatrics. However, all professionals entering this field will eventually need a doctorate degree, as educational standards are expected to rise in the next five years.

All pediatric nurses in this southern most state must also earn national advanced certification specifically for pediatric nurse practitioners. The American Nurses Credentialing Center, the National Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Associates, and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners are all great certifying agencies that provide this important service. Also, all pediatric nurses must have a valid registered nurse (RN) license.

Pediatric nurses in Florida with graduate-level educations, national certifications, and RN licenses will need to receive an advanced registered nurse practitioner or ARNP certification through the Florida Board of Nursing. Those that are not ARNP board certified are ineligible to seek and secure employment as pediatric nurses.

One way to obtain state certification is by completing an “Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner” form, and send it along with a $148 application fee to the Florida Department of Health: Board of Nursing. Those wishing to apply for a RN license simultaneously can complete and send a dual “Registered Nurse/Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner” form along with a $323 application fee. Once the application is approved, pediatric nurses in Florida are welcome to begin practicing throughout the state.
