Becoming a Physical Therapist in Idaho – ID

Due to its low national unemployment rate of 0.2%, physical therapy is an excellent career path for folks looking to weather the storm that our current economy is experiencing. In the state of Idaho, physical therapy is one of the fastest growing fields among professions that require a Bachelor’s Degree or higher. In addition, as of September 2009, Idaho sported an unemployment rate of 5.7%, with only 18 states experiencing a lower rate. In 2006, physical therapists were 172,900 strong in the United States and are expected to number nearly 220,000 by 2016. In Idaho, job growth for physical therapists is expected to best the national rate by 10%, bringing the 2006 total of 870 physical therapists to nearly 1,200 in ten years. This can be attributed to the fast rising senior population that is open to chronic conditions, such as arthritis and other orthopedic ailments, and the need for physical therapists in the workplace to evaluate working environments and teach safe work habits to employees.
