Becoming a Physical Therapist in Mississippi – MS

To become a physical therapist in Mississippi one must be granted a license from the Mississippi State Board of Physical Therapy. A person looking to obtain licensure must have the following:
- Good morals
- Have successfully completed an accredited physical therapy educational program. Accreditation of program is through the US Department of Education, Office on Postsecondary Education
- Must have passed all required examinations such as the jurisprudence exam
- Must have a Social Security number to include
The application must include:
- Filled out application that is notarized
- Filled out form entitled “Request to Schedule the NPTE form”
- Total fees are $325.00
- Photograph of applicant that is like a passport photo
- History of someone’s practice of physical therapy
- Ensure all names on forms match that on Social Security card
- Check needs to be made out to the Mississippi State Board of Physical Therapy
- See the Mississippi board’s website for more information on the National Physical Therapy Exam information and how to sign up for the exam
- Jurisprudence exam in Mississippi, that must be passed and scores sent to the board
- Verification of completion of educational program
- There are other requirements if the applicant is from outside of the country or completed a program from outside of the US.
