Students who want to know how to become a physician assistant in Idaho, must present evidence of graduation from a nationally accredited college with a bachelor’s degree as well as completion of an approved physician assistant training program. The person must also pass the exam offered by the National Commission of Certification of Physical Assistants or other exams specified by the board. An applicant as well as his or her supervising doctor may have to come in for a personal interview before he or she can be considered for available physician assistant jobs in Idaho. The applicant must also complete the application form.  The form must specify that the applicant has done a delegation of his or her service agreement and that his or her supervising physician and any alternate supervising physicians has signed it.  In order to become a physician assistant in Idaho, this agreement must be on file at each practice location of the supervising physician as well as at the board’s office.

So as to be able to become a physician assistant in Idaho, the delegation of services agreement must document the following: the licensee’s education, experience, and training; which patient services the licensee is responsible for; locations where the licensee may hold physician assistant jobs in Idaho; plans for appropriate supervision of the licensee, including: a site visit at least every month, conferences between physician and licensee, periodic review of services the physician provides and records kept, availability of the supervising physician in case of emergency, and standard drugs administered.
