Become a Psychologist in Rhode Island - RI

Individuals who wish to learn how to become a psychologist in Rhode Island should first know that you must be of “good moral character,” and have completed your doctoral work in psychology. Students need to have spent two years doing supervised psychology work and must have passed the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP), sponsored by the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards.

To practice in Rhode Island, you must complete an application and have it notarized, include a $250 check, a recent photograph, transcripts from your advanced degree psychology program, your EPPP results and your pre-doctoral and post-doctoral supervised practice forms.

If you are already licensed in another state, you must complete an Interstate Verification Form so Rhode Island can obtain your license from the state. The other state will also provide your EPPP test scores to Rhode Island’s Department of Health.
